Eastwick Flood Resiliency Plan
Key Words: Climate Adaptation Planning, Neighborhood Plan, Flood Resiliency, FEMA, Sustainability, Community Engagement
The repetitive flooding events in Eastwick have made it challenging for residents to recover and rebuild their property, while also preparing for future floods. To address this issue, our team developed a scenario-based flood resiliency plan for the neighborhood. Our goal for this plan is to identify effective mitigation solutions, prioritize community engagement and infrastructure plans, and identify available stakeholders and funding resources. By taking a comprehensive and collaborative approach to flood resilience, we hope to create a more prepared and empowered community. With the right plan in place, we believe that Eastwick can overcome its flooding challenges and build a sustainable future for all residents.
In order to build this decision making toolkit, this report imagines what Eastwick might look like in 2050 under three different scenarios, starting with the bare minimum improvements on base- line and building in a cumulative way to imagine a very high-level of investment. These scenarios help to illuminate the cost of action—and just as importantly the cost of inaction—in Eastwick.
