TOD Stadium District Site Plan
Key Words: Transit Access, Mix-Use Commercial, Sports Park, Sustainability
The following document is an urban design project for a site in the Stadium District, Philadelphia. The goal of this site plan is to create a vibrant and sustainable community that integrates commercial, residential, and recreational spaces, all within a 1/2 mile walking circle. This can be a new viable destination which is accessible to all members of the community.
• Transit-Oriented Development: Transit-Oriented Development is at the core of the site plan, with a focus on connecting the metro station with the two major arenas. The plan includes the construction of office and housing spaces, a green sports park, and two hotels, all with adequate parking garages.
• Box Commercial Space: The Box Commercial Space is designed to provide retailers with more flexible and diversified sales space to welcome local residents and sports lovers. It can also host various activities such as music performances, movie screenings, exhibitions, and sport merchandise fairs.
• Three Dimensional sports park: The sports park is designed to create a new recreation destination for citizens, with a pool, a basketball court, a picnic area, and a pedestrain bridge for more diverse use. During peak event hours for the Wells Fargo Center, the ramp can be used as a queuing area, making the queue become linear and organized.
